change screen resolution in Linux box using cammand line.

1, in your terminal type xrandr to list all the resolution that your VGA support and the current resolution that you are in:

root@dara-K42JB:/media# xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, (A) current 1366 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192
VGA-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
LVDS connected 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm
   1366x768       60.0*+
   1360x768       59.8 
   1280x720       59.9 
   1152x768       59.8 
   1024x768       59.9 
   800x600        60.3     59.9 
   848x480        59.7 
   720x480        59.7 
   640x480        59.9     59.4 
HDMI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)


(A) my current resolution is 1366x768.



2, My VGA support resolution from 640x480 to 1366x768. Now I want to change my resolution to  1024x768 : 


root@dara-K42JB:/media# xrandr -s 1024x768
