How to configure extend monitor on Ubuntu

Info
------
- current display 1366x768
- lcd display 1600x900

#xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 2966 x 900, maximum 1600 x 900
LVDS connected 1366x768+0+132 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 310mm x

if we do the calculation of the two monitor it is 1366+1600(wide) x 900(height) = 2966 x 900, So the current maximum is 1600 x 900, it won't support to we have to make it bigger,

#vim /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Section "Screen"
    Identifier    "Default Screen"
    DefaultDepth    24
    SubSection "Display"
        Virtual 3280 1200
    EndSubSection

EndSection

Section "Module"
    Load    "glx"

 EndSection

After edit the file to make screen bigger (3280x1200) then we have to restart the pc

#reboot

Now you will be able to extend the monitor using xrandr or system-configuration of GNOME

#xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 2966 x 900, maximum 3280 x 1200
LVDS connected 1366x768+0+132 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 310mm x 174mm
