  1. Dear Sir,
Can you tell me the complete meaning of ODF, OLT and ONU? Why do we need to use it?
    Thanks.

  2. - An optical network unit (ONU) is a device that transforms incoming optical signals into electronics at a customer's premises in order to provide telecommunications services over an optical fiber network.

    - An optical line termination (OLT), also called an optical line terminal, is a device which serves as the service provider endpoint of a passive optical network. It provides two main functions:

to perform conversion between the electrical signals used by the service provider's equipment and the fiber optic signals used by the passive optical network.
to coordinate the multiplexing between the conversion devices on the other end of that network (called either optical network terminals or optical network units).

The diagram below depicts an OLT within a fiber-optic network.

    - ODF or OFDF - optical fiber distribution frame(use for arrange optical cable)

they are used in FTTH (fiber to the home) network,

  4. I have 5 ONU Units and 1 OLT and I wanted to connect ip phones in the different locations with ONU and at the central side I have OLT where my voice gateway is connected to normal switch.and now i wanted to do the communication through between all the ONU to each other with the voice communication.I need to know how to do config for the same

  5. Normally the OLT operates at layer 2, if the voice gateway and your IP phone connect to the 5 ONU are on the same VLAN, they will be able to communicate with each other. But by default the OLT is isolate ONU to ONU in the OLT, so you have to add p2p-access between the 5 ONU.

    #show interface onu 0/6/28 p2p-access
    ONU ID Access ONUs

    0/6/28 30
