How to add ppa repositories

A Personal Package Archive (PPA) is a repository for uploading packages to be built and published  by launchpad or a similar application.

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:<ppa_name>

For example: if the url of of the repositories is https://launchpad.net/~geany-dev/+archive/ppa

the ppa_name would be geany-dev and so the command will be

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:geany-dev

$ sudo apt-get update

$ sudo apt-get install <package-you-want-to-install>
