Configure VTP on cisco switch

VTP, virtual trunking protocol, is used used to centralized control vlan on layer 2 switch, there are 3 mode:

- server: control all the vlan
- transparent: receive and forward, no store locally
- client: receive and store vlan from server



** server ** Switch0
Switch(config)# vtp mode sever
Switch(config)# vtp password myvtppassword
Switch(config)# vtp domain myvtpdomain
Switch(config)# interface range fastEthernet 0/1 - fastEthernet 0/3
Switch(config-if)#switchport mode trunk


** transparent ** Swtich 3
Switch(config)# vtp mode transparent
Switch(config)# vtp password myvtppassword
Switch(config)# vtp domain myvtpdomain
Switch(config)# interface range fastEthernet 0/1 - fastEthernet 0/2
Switch(config-if)#switchport mode trunk




** client ** Switch1

Switch(config)# vtp mode client
Switch(config)# vtp password myvtppassword
Switch(config)# vtp domain myvtpdomain
Switch(config)# int f0/1
Switch(config-if)#switchport mode trunk
